Explore Morocco’s Sahara desert on a 4 days Desert tour from Fes to Marrakech that allows you to meet people and have a real desert experience. By taking the 4-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour, you will have the opportunity to ride camels across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi and spend a wonderful night in a luxury desert camp in Merzouga, where you will experience perfect peace among the high dunes. This place feels a million miles away from civilization.
Apart from camel trekking, sunset and sunrise over Erg Chebbi, and a night in the desert, your 4 day Fes desert tour will take you across the Middle Atlas Mountains to Merzouga and the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. Watch the famous old-world monkey species, Barbary macaques, in the cedar forest near Azrou. Visit the Todra Canyon, the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, and many more attractions.
We go south through Imouzzer to see Ifrane after a warm breakfast. The city is famous for its cold weather, snow, and homes built in the Alpine style. It is easy to see why it is called the Switzerland of Morocco. The journey then goes to the cedar forest, which is home to the Barbary macaques. Feel free to feed them while exploring the forest. Later, we’ll head to Midelt, where we’ll have some free time for lunch. We then drive to Merzouga over the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and the Ziz valley. Stops for panoramic views will be made along the trip.
We arrive in the afternoon at the Merzouga Sahara desert. Then you ride camels across the arid desert. You will pause on top of a high dune to watch the sunset. Finally, you make your way to the desert camp. The camp is a cross between traditional nomad tents and the elegance of a hotel. Where you can listen to Berber drum music while dancing around a campfire beneath a starry sky. Dinner and sleeping at the camp.
It is necessary to get up early in the morning to enjoy the stunning sunrise in the middle of the desert. Breakfast is on your own time. Then you ride horses back to Merzouga, where your driver is waiting. We will spend the day of your Morocco desert tour exploring the Merzouga area. The area has a lot of amazing sights, like sand dunes, a wild lake, caves, fossil areas, and beautiful oases. You can do a lot of fun things outside.
First, we start our trip in Merzouga by going off-road to see an old eyeliner mine. After that, we go see the gypsies in their hand-woven tent. While you drink your Berber tea, learn about how they live. The next stop on our trip is Khamlia, where you can enjoy Gnaoua music and dance shows. The people who live there are from sub-Saharan Africa, mostly Mali, Sudan, and Niger.
Some free time to eat lunch somewhere. After that, we go for a walk in an area of palm trees. After that, take a short drive to see Merzouga Lake, which is also known as Flamingo Lake. Dinner and the night at a hotel.
After breakfast, we leave the desert towards Rissani, known previously as Sijilmassa, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani is still a large trading center in the Desert region, with the biggest souk lively on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
After a walk in Rissani Souk, we’ll continue to Erfoud, where we’ll visit one of the workshops for fossilized marble. Then we cross Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the Todra Gorges. The course of the Todra River has carved out a grand canyon through the mountains. The gorges are an ideal place for climbing sports.
Feel free to wander in the gorges and enjoy the beauty of the landscape. Free time for lunch in a nearby restaurant, then we continue to the Dades valley, through Boumalne Dades. A stop at the “monkey paw” rock formation. And a spot atop a mountain overlooking the Dades Valley Pass. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.
After breakfast, we continue our drive to Kalaa Magouna to explore the Rose Valley. Every year in May, a celebration of roses is conducted. A marketplace where residents sell rose-related goods. We continue our journey via Skoura’s picturesque palm trees. Ouarzazate, also called the “gate of the desert,” is our next stop. We’re going to check out the studios where all those blockbuster movies were made.
A trip to the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah is in order. A fortified settlement that UNESCO has designated as a World Heritage Site. The Kasbah has also been featured in numerous films, such as Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, etc., and television shows like “Game of Thrones.” The next stop is Marrakesh.
Passing across the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass. Stops will be made for lunch and to take pictures at fascinating sites. We will finish our 4 Days tour from Fes to Marrakech by dropping you off at your hotel.
