Merzouga or Zagora
Merzouga has the highest dunes in Morocco, the Erg Chebbi dunes, up to about 150 metres high. The trip from Marrakech takes 3 days. Zagora is closer: 2 days from Marrakech, with smaller dunes. If you have 3 days, go to Merzouga. If you have 2 days, Zagora is the right choice.
What a camp night is like
You ride a camel into the dunes at sunset, about 1 hour. Dinner is at the camp. In the evening there is music around the fire. You sleep in a tent with a real bed. At sunrise you ride back out of the dunes. Standard camps share bathrooms. Luxury camps have a private bathroom in the tent.
