5 days itinerary from Fez to Marrakech, Morocco. Your four nights and five days will see you visit so many amazing places in such a short period of time.
In this 5 Days Tour from Fes to Marrakech, the tour begins in Fez. First, we will visit Ifrane and the Cedar Forest in Morocco’s Switzerland. Stop in Midelt for lunch and cruise along the beautiful Ziz River. Then arrive at Merzouga in the Sahara desert. There, you can ride a camel and spend the night in a luxurious camp in the middle of the desert. Also, enjoy magical sunsets and sunrises in the Sahara desert.
Additionally, visit Rissani’s traditional market and the Fossil City of Erfoud. Then visit various kasbahs, such as Todra Valley, Dades Valley, Ait Ben Haddou, and Amridil. Finally, cross the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass. The tour ends in Marrakech.
Your 5-day desert tour begins with an early pickup from the airport or your accommodation in Fes. Then head south through Imhauser to Ifrane, known for its low temperatures, snow, and Alpine-style homes. No wonder this is called the Switzerland of Morocco. Afterward, head to the cedar forest where Barbary macaques live. Feed them freely as you stroll through the forest. Afterwards, head to Midelt, where you will have lunch. Then we head to the Sahara desert, driving through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt pass and along the Ziz river.
In the afternoon, we reach the Sahara desert of Merzouga, where you switch to camels and cross the sandy desert. A stop will be made for you to enjoy the magical sunset on top of a high dune. Then continue to the desert luxury camp, where you can enjoy the Berber drum music while dancing around the campfire under a vast open sky of stars. Dinner and overnight in the camp.
Waking up early in the morning is a must in order to contemplate the beautiful sunrise in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast. Then, ride your camel back to Merzouga, where your driver will be waiting for you. We will dedicate the day to exploring the Merzouga region. The region is full of amazing attractions, from sand dunes, wild lakes, mines, and fossil areas to stunning oases. These are great locations for a variety of outdoor activities.
Start your trip to Merzouga with a visit to an old eyeliner mine off the road. Next, visit nomads living in handmade woven tents. Learn about their way of life while drinking Berber tea. The next stop is Kamria village, where you will enjoy a Gnawa music and dance performance. Residents come from sub-Saharan countries such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Free time for lunch at a restaurant. Afterward, take a walk through a palm grove. Then drive a few kilometers to visit the wild lake of Merzouga, also known as Flamingo Lake. Dinner and hotel overnight.
After breakfast, leave the desert and visit the city of Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilaret. Rissani remains an important commercial center in the region, with a large souk that is busy on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
After a stroll through the Rissani Souk, head to Erfoud, where you will visit one of his petrified marble workshops. Afterward, you will pass through the palm forests of Turug and Tingidad to reach the Todra Valley. The Todra River’s flow carved out a sizable gorge through the mountains, creating a tall, crimson canyon. These valleys are ideal places for climbers. Stroll through the valley and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Free time for lunch at a restaurant. Then we pass through Boumarne Dades and enter the Dades Valley. A stop at the “Affenfinger” rock formation is inevitable, and it is in a mountaintop location overlooking the Dades Valley. Finally, have dinner and stay overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, continue your journey to Calaa, Maguna, to visit the Rose Valley. A rose festival is held every May. It’s where locals sell rose products, from perfumes, rosewater, and oils to cosmetics. Free time for lunch. Afterward, drive through the Skoura palm grove and visit the Kasbah of Amridil. Finally, we will arrive in Ouarzazate and visit the studio where the famous movie was shot, as well as the Kasbah of Taurilt. Dinner and hotel overnight.
On our last day, we set off to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. A fortified village is listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Furthermore, the Kasbah has appeared in many movies, including Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, etc., and TV series, including Game of Thrones. Then we continue to Marrakesh by driving through the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass and the High Atlas Mountains. Stops will be made for lunch and to take pictures at interesting spots. Finally, we drop you off at the airport or your accommodation in Marrakech. 5-day desert tour from Fez to Marrakech ends.
